At a two-hour meeting between community aircraft noise groups and the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), Mount Prospect Mayor and ONCC Chair, Arlene A. Juracek, proposed ONCC as a forum for “all to convene and address” aircraft noise issues once pertinent data could be processed.
Juracek reminded members of the Fair Allocation in Runways (Fair) Coalition and the Suburban O’Hare Commission (SOC) that ONCC had done a lot to mitigate aircraft noise since its inception in 1997. In addition to overseeing sound insulation programs, ONCC has brought all O’Hare stakeholders to the table and collaborated with the CDA to create the Fly Quiet Manual.
The ONCC leader also acknowledged that both community groups presented credible ideas that would generate more discussions on ways to solve aircraft noise.
“ONCC can be a great channel to process information,” said Juracek. “There are many sides to this story; Fair and SOC have raised enough questions to get the dialog going. However, as elected officials, ONCC members do represent all residents living in the suburbs and Chicago.”
The CDA plans to meet with ONCC, Fair and SOC two more times before August 1, 2015.

The FAA will seek comments from federal, state and local entities, and the public, about the Draft Re-Evaluation. The agency will announce dates and times for four public open houses two weeks before the Draft document is released.
Information regarding data and meeting dates will be posted on the FAA website at http://www.faa.gov/airports/
