 ORD21 Presentation

CDA staff provided an update on ORD21, a new capital plan for the O’Hare International Airport. As the O’Hare Modernization Program and the focus on airfield improvements wind down, the CDA is turning its attention towards improving and upgrading terminals at O’Hare. O’Hare is busiest airport in the world for aircraft operations, with 903,000 flights in 2018, a 4.2% increase from 2017.

ORD21 projects include:

    • Global Terminal/Concourse – Existing Terminal 2 will be removed and replaced with a new facility, with its own customs and passport control.
    • Satellite concourses
    • Multimodal improvements
    • Terminal 5 Expansion
    • New hotel(s) and parking structure adjacent to Terminal

Interim Fly Quiet Runway Rotation Plan

CDA staff announced that IFQ would begin on November 3 and be in place through May 17, 2020, pausing for the 2020 construction season. CDA will provide weekly tracking reports at the Fly Quiet Committee meetings.

Chairman Juracek announced that ONCC had sent out resources to members/communicators – including additional information and outreach materials that were available on the web site

Report of the ONCC Chair

Chairman Juracek announced that 45th Ward representative John Arena had resigned from his position on the Commission, leaving a vacancy on the Fly Quiet Committee. She asked the Chicago Ward representatives to discuss amongst themselves and determine who their representative on the Fly Quiet Committee would be.

Chairman Juracek also announced that Evan Summers, Village Manager of Bensenville had been appointed to serve as Chair of the Technical Committee.

The next general meeting of the ONCC is scheduled for January 10, 2020.
