ONCC received word this week that the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has submitted the Fly Quiet Program Proposal to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for review.
We will continue to track the progress of the proposal and provide updates as they are available.

2022 has been a busy year, and it looks like we have plenty of work ahead in 2023!
ONCC's biggest news of 2022 was the approval of the new Fly Quiet Program in August. We expect the proposal to be turned in by the CDA to the FAA for review by the end of the year.
We celebrated our 25th Anniversary this year with a fabulous event in October out on the airfield. It was a great event with the perfect backdrop!
O’Hare’s Terminal Area Plan was given the green light to proceed by the FAA. The project, “a rebuild of O'Hare's major terminals will improve passenger experience with updated facilities and amenities, provide more gate flexibility, reduce wait times, reduce taxiing time and improve domestic and international connections.” -Chicago Tribune
The release of the TAP Environmental Analysis (EA) will result in a new noise contour for the O’Hare area. The Residential Sound Insulation Committee will be working in 2023 on planning for a new phase of residential sound insulation. More details to come.
The Residential Sound Insulation Program continues toward completion on outstanding OMP Phases 17, 18 and 19 which were delayed due to COVID.
The Technical Committee will initiate their new awards program in 2023. Airlines’ data from 2022 will be evaluated in several categories including fleet quality, schedule, adherence to preferential flight tracks and use of the Ground Run-up Enclosure (GRE). It is expected that awards will be given in three categories – cargo, passenger and regional.
The Ad Hoc Daytime Noise Subcommittee is expected to wrap up their work mid-year with the goal of presenting recommendations for actionable items to the full ONCC membership. They have taken a deep dive on several factors that impact daytime noise

The terminal redevelopment plan at the center of ORD21 received final regulatory approval from the Federal Aviation Administration today — a key milestone that means construction on the satellite concourses and related airfield work can begin when the ground thaws this spring. The review also included making an offset approach on Runway 10R/28L permanent to allow simultaneous arrival to multiple runways.
