42 communities and 19 school districts dedicated to reducing aircraft noise in the communities around O’Hare International Airport since 1996.

In May, the ONCC received an update on construction impacts at O'Hare. Planned work will impact runway use. The highlights include:

  • Beginning June 3rd, the Approach Lighting System (ALS) & Glide Slope for Runway 10C will be shut down until November 1, 2024, in support of I-490 construction. The loss of navigational aids will result in a limitation of east flow arrivals on Runway 10C especially in poor weather conditions.
  • Beginning July 22nd, the east taxiway improvement project will cause restrictions for Runway 28R departures and Runway 28C arrivals through November 2nd, 2024. During this time, arrivals will shift from Runway 28C to Runway 28R. There will also be a corresponding increase in departures on Runways 22L and 27L.
