The ONCC Fly Quiet Committee met on May 26, 2020 via Zoom video conference.

CDA presented IFQ weekly reports for weeks 24-28. Week 28 concludes first period of IFQ while 4R/22L undergoes rehabilitation work. IFQ is scheduled to resume mid-September. More details on construction impacts and schedule will be provided at the June 5 full commission meeting. Poor utilization of diagonal runways was due to the COVID-19 situation. Aircraft parked on the airfield interfere with navigational aids. Inclimate weather also impacted usage. View reports

The ONCC Technical Committee met on May 19, 2020.

The Interim Fly Quiet Runway Rotation Plan was in place from November 3, 2019 to May 17, 2020. The program is now on pause for the summer construction season at O'Hare, as the O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP) progresses toward completion. Runway 4R/22L is slated for reconstruction this summer. and during that time operations will revert to the original Fly Quiet program. The Interim Fly Quiet rotation plan will resume September 13, 2020 and will be in place through January 31, 2021, at which time work to complete Runway 9R/27L will necessitate the program to be paused once again. 

The ONCC Fly Quiet Committee is currently working to develop an alternative Fly Quiet Program to be in place once the OMP is completed. 

With the global recovery in air traffic demand expected to last 2-5 years, airlines that survive will emerge from the novel coronavirus pandemic as smaller businesses operating more efficient fleets. Read Article
