The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission Technical Committee met on Tuesday, April 17 at the Mount Prospect Village Hall. The Chicago Department of Aviation and Federal Aviation Administration staff updated members on the permanent and portable noise monitors, updated noise monitor fact sheets and charts, the noise complaint system, and the Interim Fly Quiet status.

Overnight flight tests are planned for the nights of April 22-25 for Runway 10R. Testing will begin after 10 PM and may occur for a couple of hours. In addition, lower altitude tests (a couple of flights with the FAA aircraft) are planned during the day on April 28 for the same certification purpose.

The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission met on Friday, April 13. The following items were discussed:

  • Report of the Chicago Department of Aviation
    • ANMS February 2018 Report – CDA consultants presented the report. Of note was a considerable drop in the number of noise complaints due to the implementation of the CAPTCHA feature on the CDA web site.

    • Update on the Residential Sound Insulation Program - Testing on the defective windows continues. Residents experiencing issues can call 773-894-3636 to request a visit by an inspector.

    • O’Hare 21 Terminal Redevelopment Overview -  View Presentation
      Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner, Ginger Evans, presented an overview of the recently approved Terminal Redevelopment Plan for O’Hare.
