Interim Fly Quiet Update
FAA Environmental Specialist Amy Hanson said that the FAA was in the process of reviewing and categorizing comments and she did not have an exact date when the final report would be printed and available. -
ONCC Technical Committee Chair Plans and Participates in National Discussion on Ways to Improve FAA BPN Development
ONCC Technical Committee Chair Catherine Dunlap participated in a months long planning committee to develop a workshop for anti noise groups, including airport/community roundtables, on ways to improve the FAA’s community engagement for Precision Based Navigation (PBN). Some 15 community groups submitted comments which were discussed at the U.C. Davis Aviation Noise and Emissions Symposium which was held from March 3-5 in Florida.

Technical Committee Meeting Summary - March 19, 2019
The ONCC Technical Committee met on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Mount Prospect Village Hall.
Committee Chair Catherine Dunlap thanked the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the informative and thorough Interim Fly Quiet Community Workshop that the agency held at four different locations around O’Hare International Airport during the first week in February .
Interim Fly Quiet Update
FAA Environmental Specialist Amy Hanson thanked the ONCC for participating in the Interim Fly Quiet Workshop and for being readily available to answer questions from the public. She said the FAA is in the process of categorizing comments and did not have an exact date when the final report would be available. -
Technical Committee Meeting Summary - January 15, 2019
The Technical Committee met on January 15, 2019.
FAA staff was not in attendance due to the Federal Government shutdown. The FAA Interim Fly Quiet Draft Re-Evaluation document has been released and is available on the ONCC web site. Public workshops have been scheduled for February 4-7. There is still uncertainty what impact the shutdown will have on the meetings, but ONCC will keep members posted.
CDA staff gave an update on the 311 System. The City is aware of issues with the noise complaint feature of the system and is working closely with the Department of Technology staff to resolve the problems.
CDA staff provided an update on Noise Monitors. Portable noise monitors are available for deployment.
Ryan Anderson of Landrum & Brown gave a presentation: Airport 201. Topics covered included runway geometry, airport signage, navigational aids, airport inspections and more.
The next Technical Committee meeting is scheduled for March 19, 2019.

Technical Committee Summary - August 14, 2018
The ONCC Technical Committee met on August 14, 2018. The following topics were discussed:
Interim Fly Quiet Status Update
A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) provided an update on the status of the Interim Fly Quiet proposal. Modeling is being conducted with and without rotation. The draft report is expected to be published before the end of the year, and the FAA is currently looking at dates and locations for public workshops. More information on the workshops is expected to be available at the September meeting.

Technical Committee Summary—May 22, 2018
The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission Technical Committee met on Tuesday, May 22 at the Mount Prospect Village Hall. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) staff updated members on the permanent and portable noise monitors, Fly Quiet 1st Quarter 2018 Report, Fly Quiet Manual revisions, the aircraft noise complaint system, and the Interim Fly Quiet status.

The Chicago Department of Aviation and Federal Aviation Administration staff updated members on the permanent and portable noise monitors, updated noise monitor fact sheets and charts, the noise complaint system, and the Interim Fly Quiet status.

Technical Committee Summary—February 20, 2018
The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission Technical Committee met on Tuesday, February 20 at the Mount Prospect Village Hall. The Chicago Department of Aviation staff and consultants updated members on the Aircraft Noise Standards, permanent noise monitor installations, O’Hare Annual Operations, noise complaint system, 4th Quarter Fly Quiet Report and Interim Fly Quiet update.

Technical Committee Meeting Summary - 12/12/17
At the December 12, 2017 meeting of the ONCC Technical Committee the following items were discussed:
Noise Monitors
CDA Staff reported on the three permanent monitors that are currently in the process of being installed - Norridge, Bensenville and Itasca. Installation on all three monitors is nearly complete with the base and mast installed on each and the electrical having been approved by the municipalities. They are waiting for ComEd to energize the poles in order to proceed with the installation of the monitors. The remaining site in the City of Chicago will be the priority for 2018 and are expected to be installed in Spring/Summer 2018. Elmhurst is next on the list to receive a portable noise monitor, and the CDA is finalizing the details for the installation.

The Chicago Department of Aviation staff updated members on the status of the permanent noise monitors installations, the aircraft noise complaint system, and modifications to the quarterly Fly Quiet Reports.

Progress on Noise Monitor Installation
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) announced that it has secured permits and scheduled contractors to install permanent aircraft noise monitors at three suburban locations. Electrical installation and concrete work will begin on October 9, 2017 in Bensenville (Site 31), Itasca (Site 44) and Norridge (Site 18) with monitor installations to follow.
